​Golf at the charming Stutterheim Country Club​, a 20 minute drive away from the Lodge. The 9-hole course (18 tees) is beautifully set just outside Stutterheim against the Amathole mountains. The club also has excellent tennis facilities and a friendly clubhouse serving traditional pub fare. The festive clubhouse pub shows all major sporting events. East London Golf Club, which regularly hosts Sunshine Tour events is a 45 minute drive away.
​Day trips to the beach at Cintsa, Nahoon or Morgan Bay, are between 1 to 2 hours away from the Lodge. The coastline between East London and the Kei River mouth is famous for several blue flag beaches...
​Thomas River Historical Village ​​is located about 45 minutes drive from the Lodge further inland along the N6 past Stutterheim. Explore this beautifully restored town, dating back to 1801, to see how some of the Eastern Cape's first European settlers lived.​ Explore the village at your leisure including the Private Library, Wagon Museum, Cultural Museum, Pub Museum and Vintage Motor Museum, set in beautiful Eastern Cape highlands.
​The Lion Park ​​located on the N6 towards to East London, 30 minutes drive from the Lodge, offers the opportunity to view some of Africa's most powerful predators, other African game and an impressive assortment of birdlife.
​Transkei wild coast The enchanting Transkei region of South Africa is just across the Kei River. The coast is most easily accessible via the ferry at Kei Mouth (110km from the Lodge). If your destination is further up the coast of the Transkei, taking the N2 to Butterworth or Umtata may prove a quicker way to go. We have intimate knowledge of the whole province and would be more than happy to help you plan a trip to this magical region.
