Bird watching and game viewing
From the comfort of the lodge, guests can experience a vast array of birdlife and wildlife that congregate around the dam. Alternatively, one might explore the farm on foot or by vehicle to discover other fauna and flora and enjoy the quiet and peaceful surroundings.
Wildlife includes Blesbok, Impala, Springbuck, Bush-Buck, Duiker, Warthog, Blue Wildebeest, Vervet Monkey, Jackal, Caracal and the occasional Kudu.
Common birdlife aroud the dam includes Eqyptian Geese, Spoonbill, Crested Crane, Kingfisher and a resident Fish Eagle.

Fishing

​The Lodge dam, and other dams around the Ferndale estate, are stocked with bass and are great areas to relax and enjoy a relaxed few hours of fishing.

Ferndale currently operates on a catch and release basis.

Mountain - biking
The Ferndale estate has many jeep and gravel farm roads within and around it for exploring by mountain bike. Biking is a fun and healthy way to discover the farm and and game view.

Bush walks
Ferndale farm is covered in trails for a relaxing meander through the game camps on the farm. Take your binoculars, water and a map to explore the valleys and hills of Fendale.
